Basic information about DELE Exam
When you take the official DELE Exam, you get a diploma which certificates that you have a certain Spanish level. This diploma is official: issued by Cervantes Institute (Instituto Cervantes), the Spanish public institution which is in charge of promoting and teaching Spanish language.
How does DELE Exam look like?
It is composed by four parts. For low and intermediate levels (A1-B2) these parts consists of: reading comprehension, listening comprehension, written expression and interaction and, finally, oral expression and interaction.
For advanced levels (C1-C2) the content is a little bit different. For the C1 level, firstly, you will have reading comprehension and the use of Spanish. Secondly, listening comprehension and use of Spanish. Thirdly, integrated skills: listening comprehension and written expression and interaction. Finally, you will have another integrated skills test: reading comprehension and both oral expression and interaction.
For the last level (C2), there are just three parts, composed by the following: use of Spanish, listening comprehension and reading comprehension. Then, listening and reading comprehension combined with written expression and interaction. In the end you will have to combine reading comprehension with oral expression and interaction.
When can I take the DELE Exam?
You have several dates along the year to do the DELE Exam. For 2015 the designed dates to take an exam are the following:
- 17TH April 2015: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1.
- 22nd and 23rd May 2015: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2.
- 17th July 2015: A2, B1, B2, C1.
- 16th October 2015: A2, B1, B2.
- 20th and 21st November 2015: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2.
Where can I take the DELE Exam?
There are 900 examination centers distributed all over the world, in more than 100 different countries. With so many countries you can find the one which fits you best.
Why do I need to take the DELE Exam?
It is a requirement also to access to some institutions related with education. You would most probably need the DELE exam for attending a university in Spain if your major is in thought in Spanish. Also, if you want to work in a company whose main language is Spanish, they will most probably ask you to have this official diploma in order to work with them. Or even in a non-Spanish company that needs your Spanish skills, in addition to your professional ones.
As you can see it is always an advantage to be certified and being able not only say that you have certain Spanish knowledge, but also to prove it with your official diploma.
